Mentor Program
The 2008 Program kicked off with a half day Matching Event on May 17th. Thirty mentors and proteges particpated in the day. They developed and honed goals, participated in interviews (think "speed dating"), received training and guidelines, and were successfully matched with a Mentor or Protege partner. Missed this year? The Mentor Program’s protégés are either new to the field or looking to build on already-impressive knowledge bases and, as one protégé put it, “step up to the next professional level.” Testimony to the program’s success is a list of former protégés that includes Andi Campbell-2007 Chapter President, Sarah Macintosh-2006 Mentor Program Co-Chair, Kia Poe-Chapter President-Elect, Al Aiona-Aka-2008 Website Coordinator, Barbara Shaw and Barbara Bartley-2007 Co-Directors of Membership, Shannon Hoolihan-ASTD Office Manager and many more Chapter Stars!!
While the energy and enthusiasm of the protégés drive the program, it is the willingness of the mentors to share expertise and encourage individual development that makes this program so outstanding. Some of the Chapter’s most illustrious members have served as mentors since this program’s inception in 2000, including 2008 Chapter President-Jeff Toister, Susan Murphy-Past President, Maureen Orey-Past President, Barb Greenstein-Past President. Phillip Tanzilo-Past President, Karin Riggs-2005 Mentor Program Chair, Janice Trantham-2004 Mentor Program Chair, Eric Kaufmann, Jordan Goldrich, Karen Garman, Lindsay Wagner and many, many more Chapter-dedicated individuals!

Mentor Orientations for the 2009 Program will be held immediately before the January, February, March and April Chapter meetings and at the conclusion of the North County Chapter first quarter breakfast meeting.
